History – The ministry was begun in 1958 in New York City by Rev. David Wilkerson. Since that time, it has grown into an international organization with hundreds of centers around the world. While the ministry began with a focus on teen-aged gang members, Teen Challenge now reaches men and women with any life-controlling problem of any age
History of the Organization
Care Net was influenced by the evangelical leadership of former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. C. Everett Koop and Christian apologist, Dr. Francis Schaeffer. The organization was founded in 1975 as the Christian Action Council by renowned scholar Dr. Harold O. J. Brown, with its primary focus to engage evangelicals in responding to the abortion crisis.
Every day at thousands of community centers, high schools, middle schools, juvenile institutions, coffee shops, and local hangouts, YFC staff and volunteers meet with young people who need Jesus. We are rural and urban and we are always about the message of Jesus.
